After a poor start to the season on the pitch and a lack of activity in the transfer market due to a 'transfer embargo', Sheffield Wednesday fans are desperate for some good news.

That good news seems to have arrived with the lifting of the embargo and the imminent return of striker Sam Winnall who has recovered from a major knee operation, and has hinted he is edging closer to a return.

The centre-forward, who sustained cruciate knee ligament damage during a season-long loan spell at Derby County last term, is working out under the guidance of the Owls' conditioning experts.

Is Winnall's return good news for the Owls?

We discuss.....

It's a massive boost.

Sheffield Wednesday have had a torrid time so far this season having been under an embargo, with that now lifted they are able to add new players.

One of the biggest plus points of their season will be the return of Winnall, who knows where the back of the net is.

Wednesday are lacking goalscorer with an instinct in front of the posts.

He will be a massive return for the club once he is fit.

Any reinforcements are going to be good news for the Owls right now, they’re in a rut and need a big boost.

With the embargo lifted they can bring new faces in, but some returning ones are just as important.

Wednesday fans haven’t seen a lot of him, but he’s certainly a better option than Stephen Fletcher up top.

This is great news.

Jay Williams

After picking up just one point in three games, Sheffield Wednesday need all the help they can get.

Whether that comes with some new signings or the boost of players returning from injury doesn't matter, but something needs to cheer the fans up.

I'm not sure if Winnall starts when everyone is fully fit but he is definitely a good player to have in reserve.

His experience will be vital and he knows how to score goals at this level.

George Dagless

It is.

He is another option that the Owls can use to try and get out of their early-season sluggishness.

On form he can cause real issues, he just needs to stay fit and stay sharp to have an impact.
