Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract at the City Ground in a deal which will keep him there until 2023.

Lolley, 26, originally joined Forest from Huddersfield in 2018 and has gone on to make 50 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals with the former Kidderminster Harriers winger being named PFA Player of the Month for October, and was nominated again the following month.

So how big a statement is it that Joe Lolley has signed a new deal?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"It’s a huge statement.

"Lolley has been a revelation this season for the Reds and his contribution is one of the main reasons why they are challenging for a top six finish.

"It’s good to see the club not being bullied into selling him, with Watford previously interested.

"He’ll play a starring role in the future of Nottingham Forest."

Louie Chandler

"Nothing major.

"Contract renewals are primarily PR stunts these days and mean very little.

"If a team wants Lolley badly enough in the summer, they will still sign him."

Jay Taylor

“Massive deal.

“He has been their best player this season, and signing a new deal shows his commitment to the club.

“It’s massive for Martin O’Neill, too, to tie down a hugely influential player in the team.

“Lolley signing is a huge boost to the club and could even give them a big enough boost to make it to the play-offs.”

Gary Hutchinson

“Very big.

“Lots of clubs like Lolley and rightly so.

“The links with Villa made me laugh, but in the top flight he’ll be known as a prospect to.

“This keeps him tied down or at least ensures a big fee when the vultures do come hunting.”
