Leeds United regained top spot in the Championship following victory over Swansea City last night, in a result that will have pleased manager Marcelo Bielsa, who has further reason to be happy with the news that defender Gaetano Berardi is close to a return after four months out, as confirmed in the YEP.

Bielsa is planning to give Berardi two runs out in the u23's in the next fortnight and if all goes well, the 30-year-old will then be available for first team selection, as reported on Leeds Live.

So is Berardi's imminent return a boost for Leeds?

We discuss.....

Louie Chandler

"Absolutely.

"There have been questions over his quality in the past but in their current state Leeds need as many fit bodies as they can get.

"He impressed early in the season and Bielsa clearly still rates him."

Gary Hutchinson

“Huge boost.

“He’s a beast and it will just add another dimension to a good week for the Whites.

“He’ll have a big say in whether they go up or not.”

Alfie Burns

“Berardi probably isn’t going to be a starter during the run-in, but it is still a boost.

“There’s a reliance on youth at Leeds, so a senior player returning is never a bad thing.

“The versatility of the Swiss defender means he will always be Marcelo Bielsa’s 18.”

Jacob Potter

"It’s a huge boost for Bielsa.

"He may not be a regular starter but he’s an ideal player to rely upon when needed.

"Berardi’s experience will come in handy, and his imminent return can only be a positive for Marcelo Bielsa."
