Leeds United head into a promotion clash against Middlesbrough this weekend, looking to bounce back from defeat to Norwich City, a result that saw the Whites relinquish top spot in the Championship.

Ahead of the match Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has a number of selection issues to address but none so important as a decision on his striking options, against the meanest defence in the division.

Patrick Bamford has staked a big claim to start alongside Kemar Roofe, after his consolation goal against Norwich last time out, especially with Pablo Hernandez a doubt for the game.

So should Bielsa look to play Bamford alongside Roofe?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

"I think it would be a bold call.

"But it could be worth it. He hasn’t tried playing two up front this season and it’s surely worth a punt?

"It’s a gamble that should be taken."

Louie Chandler

"I think so.

"Bielsa won’t have to change his system. Roofe could easily slot into the number 10 role or outside.

"He will have the bit between his teeth with a point to prove."

Jay Taylor

“Who else does he have to trust?

“Roofe for me will start, and Hernandez will probably be on the bench, I feel, and Bamford will be given a chance in the side after his goal last week.

“Having been a regular from the bench, he is showing to Bielsa that he is ready to be in from the start.

“And I think he will start and Bielsa will be forced to trust him – on somewhat of a sink or swim scenario.”

Gary Hutchinson

“Yes, even without he should give Bamford a go.

“I firmly believe Patrick Bamford is Premier League quality.

“He has to get minutes under his belt, but he can be a big player for Leeds.”
