Sheffield United are interested in signing Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan on a season-long loan, before the end of the transfer window.

According to The Sun, the 26-year-old is a top priority for the Blades, who are willing to make Hogan their best-paid player on £35,000-a-week.

Sheffield United haven’t been shy throughout this summer’s transfer window, signing the likes of Dean Henderson John Egan, Oliver Norwood, Ben Woodburn and more, and are looking to bolster their attacking arsenal, with Chris Wilder looking to complete the signing of Scott Hogan before the 31st August.

Hogan netted seven goals in 24 appearances for the Claret and Blue Army last season, helping his side to the Championship play-off final.

Whether he is worth that wage or not, there is no doubt Scott Hogan is a top Championship centre forward.

George Dagless

This is a big offer.

Hogan is a good player but needs to hit the ground running here or he'll be burning a big hole in the Blades' pockets.

It's a gamble but if it pays off they will have a player that is capable of firing them towards the top six.

Gary Hutchinson

It's big money and with that comes big risk.

This is a calculated gamble though. Wilder must get in a striker, one who is young enough to have an impact, but has proven himself before.

If he brings Scott Hogan back to life, that investment will be peanuts.

If he scores the goals that get them to the top six, it will be like buying a winning lottery ticket.

Alfie Burns

It’s a big move by Sheffield United, who will be making a major statement in the transfer window if they get Hogan on board.

However, there’s a huge amount of risk to go alongside it.

Hogan’s fitness is an issue, and laying down serious money for the striker could seriously backfire in the future.

I’m sure it’s something Wilder has considered.

Jay Williams

The wages are pretty hefty but the fact that he is only on loan allows them to finance this deal.

If Hogan can get back to the form he showed at Brentford, then Sheffield United have a top player on their hands.

At Aston Villa, he has struggled with injuries and not always been the first choice.

In a new environment, he could thrive and he could resurrect his career with a loan move to Sheffield United.
