It is testament to the work that Marcelo Bielsa is doing at Leeds United that even though he has struggled to name his first choice starting XI for much of the season, his side are still very much in the promotion mix in second place in the Championship, just two points off leaders Norwich City.

As Leeds prepare for the visit of Swansea City midweek, Bielsa has confirmed in the YEP, that he will have to do without his first-choice left back Barry Douglas who has picked up another knock, having already been out for a month with a muscle injury.

So how big a blow is it for Leeds to be without Douglas for the Swansea clash?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“Another day, another injury.

“It’s all getting a bit predictable now, isn’t it?

“This is one of the blows that is least harshly felt.

“Alioski is far better at left back than anywhere else.”

Jacob Potter

"It’s a frustrating update for Bielsa.

"Leeds have rarely had a fully fit side for the majority of this season, and Bielsa will surely be irritated not to have his first-choice left-back available to him for this one.

"He has a point to prove this season, and will be eager to make a swift recovery."

George Harbey

"It’s another frustrating blow for Leeds.

"Douglas really hasn’t impressed me of late, but he is a solid option for Leeds to have.

"Alioski at left back really doesn’t fill me with confidence, to be perfectly honest."

Jay Taylor

“Ezgjan Alioski deputised in the left-back role at the weekend and didn’t do too badly as Douglas had been called out for his below-par form.

“I would have imagined the winger-come-defender would have continued in the role against Swansea, so it isn’t that much of a blow.

“The players know the system and what to do, so I would be confident in any player being able in that spot, should it be deemed necessary.”
