A regular starter for Middlesbrough this season, defender Dael Fry is a player to watch as he seems to have nailed down a spot in Tony Pulis' side.

The 21-year-old who has appeared for England at U17 through to U21 has already appeared six times for Boro this season and is drawing plaudits for his performances.

So could Boro have the next John Stones on their hands?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

Dael Fry is the next Dael Fry.

The defender is too young to be compared to the England international, despite his impressive performances so far this season.

Adding that pressure onto a player for them to live up to a current player will be flattering for sure, but why try to compare as if he falls short he will be deemed as a failure.

Let him develop and learn his trade and work his way up.

After a good start to the season, an England U21 call-up was inevitable but let him learn and enjoy the experience for what it is and let him develop into the best player he can with without the moniker of John Stones as a comparison.

Gary Hutchinson

They are similar in terms of style and position, but did John Stones ever win an Under 20 World Cup?

There’s always a slight disservice being done when an emerging player is compared to someone else.

What we should be excited about, as a nation, is a player like Fry carrying his youth form into senior football.

In ten years’ time we might be calling a young player the next Dael Fry, then you’ll know he’s made it.

George Dagless

It's a bold claim but he is very good.

He's a young defender that can come out with the ball and is learning his trade in the EFL - there are similarities to Stones for sure.

I think we'll see him in the Premier League one way or another in the near future.
