Leeds United return to Championship action when they travel to the Den to face Millwall, with manager Marcelo Bielsa facing his first real selection dilemma following injuries to strikers Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford.
Due to the size of Bielsa’s squad, injuries and suspensions had the potential to severely affect a Leeds side that are unbeaten this season in the league and sit top of the table.
These injuries give a chance to 19-year-old striker Tyler Roberts, but can he step up in their absence?
I’m not so sure.
The injuries are a real blow and it’s laid bare the Leeds frailties far early than we imagined it might.
Tyler Roberts is not sufficient to lead the line, it is that simple.
I’m not sure what the answer is.
It’s a big ask.
Roberts is still very inexperienced in the Championship, and he’s got big shoes to fill as Roofe has been on fire so far this season.
This is a massive opportunity for the Welshman to exhibit his qualities and stake a claim in the first team moving forwards.
It will be a big ask but if he has the full faith of Marcelo Bielsa it will do him the world of good.
There are not many tougher fixtures than Millwall away for you to come in and look to impress.
If Roberts can do that, and maybe score a goal it will boost his confidence no end and give him the assurance he needs to fill Kemar Roofe’s boots.
