West Brom are said to be rivalling a number of clubs, including Middlesbrough to the potential signing of Karlan Grant according to the Daily Mail (23/1/19, page 65).

The Charlton forward has been in impressive form this season, and already has 14 goals to his name in a breakthrough season in English football.

Grant is out of contract in the summer, and is sure to be attracting further interest in his services before the transfer window closes this month.

The Addicks will be desperate to hold onto their talisman, as he has fired them into the play-off positions in League One, and they will certainly fancy their chances of returning to the Championship if Grant remains at the club.

West Brom are in the market to find a replacement for Harvey Barnes who was recalled from his loan spell by Leicester earlier this year.

Grant could be the perfect Barnes replacement as he can play both out wide, or up front, and could be a useful addition to Darren Moore's squad this season.

But would Grant be a good signing for West Brom?

We discuss....

George Harbey:

"I'm really not sure about this one.

"Grant's best position, although he can play out wide or behind the striker, is up front, and he's never going to get in the side ahead of Gayle or Rodriguez is he?

"He needs consistent game time, so if they can provide that, it's a great signing."

Jacob Potter:

"If he's given regular game time, then it's a smart signing by the Baggies.

"But I can't see him being any better than the current options they have available to them this season.

"Grant would be warming the substitutes bench at best and they should steer clear of a move for him."

Gary Hutchinson:

"I really like Grant, he's quick and powerful and has a great eye for goal.

"He's thriving at Charlton and that is exactly why I would want to see him move.

"He won't play for West Brom and it'll stunt his development.

"Wait until the end of the season, then see."
