Marcelo Bielsa will know that he needs to bring in several new players to transform the Whites into promotion contenders, but he will also want to get more out of the existing group.

And, one man who has the potential to star under the Argentinian coach is Samuel Saiz.

The Spaniard arrived at Elland Road 12 months ago and settled to life in the Championship immediately, impressing with his ability to beat players, key passing and productivity in the final third.

Yet, he appeared to lose his way in the second half of the season, getting a lengthy ban for spitting at a Newport player before struggling to rediscover his form under Paul Heckingbottom.

Nevertheless, the quality is clearly there and with Bielsa known for encouraging attacking football, it could be the ideal environment for Saiz to flourish.

However, he will need to seriously improve from the way he ended the previous campaign.

So, will Saiz and Bielsa be a good fit at Leeds?

Our writers take a look...

Chris Gallagher

I think this will go spectacularly well.

Saiz is a quality player as we saw last season and playing under someone like Bielsa is ideal for him.

He will encourage the side to play in a way that suits the player, whilst also giving him the freedom to roam and make an impact. He could be one of the best players in the division next season.

George Dagless

It'll go one of two ways.

Saiz will either go to new heights in terms of performance or his fiery nature will clash with Bielsa and it'll cause issues.

I have a feeling the former is more likely, though.

Alfie Burns

On paper, they could be perfect.

However, there are elements of Saiz’s game that need to be addressed by Bielsa ahead of the new season.

They could work well together, but they could very easily clash.

Will Saiz and anyone be a good fit? He's a great player on his day, oozing creativity and guile, but his day is one in every twelve or so.

If his consistency improves, maybe he will thrive under the new man.
