There was some positive news for Leeds United after it was revealed that forward Kemar Roofe does not require surgery to solve a knee injury.

It had been confirmed last week that the Whites top scorer would be set for a spell on the sidelines after damaging his knee ligaments.

And, whilst a return is not imminent, he should be back sooner than initially hoped after the Yorkshire Evening Post confirmed surgery wasn't needed.

Clearly, that's a bog boost for Leeds who are approaching a crucial period in the season.

So, just how relieved will boss Marcelo Bielsa be after this positive update?

Our writers take a look...

Alfie Burns

"It’s obviously massive news for the Whites.

"Surgery would’ve delayed the forward’s comeback, so to learn that he will recover without it will give everyone a lift.

"The way Price has spoke about Roofe’s comeback suggests we might see him again sooner than expected."

Jacob Potter

"It’s a huge relief.

"There will have been fears that he could be out for a longer spell after surgery.

"But this latest update is a real positive for Leeds and Roofe will be hoping he can return to action sooner than expected."

Louie Chandler

"It will be a huge relief.

"When a player needs surgery it nearly always adds three to four weeks onto their recovery time so not having that is massive.

"Obviously, they should not rush him back and Patrick Bamford looks like he will do a more than adequate job."

George Dagless

"It'll be a huge relief.

"The striker has been a key part of things this season and this means he should return quicker than expected.

"There's no doubt that he's an important player and he'll be working hard to get back on that pitch."
