Sunderland remain firmly in the automatic promotion race in League One this season, following the Black Cats' latest win over Plymouth at the weekend, a result that leaves them in third place in the league, two points off an automatic spot, with a game in hand.

Success on the pitch though for Jack Ross' side has not stopped rumours on the grapevine, suggesting that the Black Cats are a target for a takeover, less than a year after Stewart Donald and his consortium moved in, according to a report in the Sun on Sunday (March 4th, Page 61).

So what does all this talk of takeover mean for Sunderland?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“It'd really surprise me.

“If there is, Stewart Donald will be hoping to go down as the man who saved them.

“He’s done a good job, but maybe they need a bigger cash boost.

“Dangerous though, they’re on a good trajectory right now.”

Jay Taylor

“I am surprised by this.

“I thought the club was in good hands with the owners they had.

“Change isn’t always good and this upheaval once more at boardroom level could be detrimental.

“On the other hand, it could take them to the next level financially.”

Jacob Potter

"It’s an exciting time for Sunderland.

"The Black Cats seem to finally be clicking on the pitch and it’ll be pleasing to hear that they could soon be taken over.

"This would be the perfect time for this, especially with promotion to the Championship looking likely."
