Sunderland are facing the prospect of a mad few weeks in preparation for the season ahead.

After falling short in the play-offs the focus for Lee Johnson is on getting his first team squad prepared for the new campaign and ensuring that they finish the job of securing promotion next time around.

Bringing in new players will be essential to doing this, but with that in mind there’s also going to be players who may well be heading to the exit door before the end of the transfer window.

So who are these players? Here are two players who could leave in the next couple of months.

What year were Sunderland formed?

Charlie Wyke

The man who has dominated back pages in Sunderland for several weeks now.

Charlie Wyke is out of contract this summer and with reported interest from Celtic stepping up in recent weeks, it’s starting to look inevitable that he’s someone who could be moving on.

The challenge for Sunderland will then be on finding someone who can replace the 31 goals that he scored last term.

Will Grigg

Another player who has surely played his last game for Sunderland.

Will Grigg has endured a torrid time since moving to the Stadium Of Light and was even shipped out on loan to MK Dons during the January transfer window – a spell that went really well for him.

With the summer window now open it’d be a surprise to see him back in Lee Johnson’s plans next term and so it’ll be interesting to see if someone comes knocking.
