Sheffield United are thought to be in pole position to sign 27-year-old winger Marvin Johnson on loan from Middlesbrough.

Johnson has struggled since moving from Oxford to Middlesbrough, making very little impact at the Riverside Stadium.

However after an impressive showing in the League Cup, Johnson may have crept back into Pulis’ thoughts.

Would though, a move to Bramall lane be a better option for the player? Would he be a good signing for the Blades?

George Dagless

It could be very shrewd.

Johnson is the sort of player that Chris Wilder loves to work with.

The Middlesbrough move hasn't worked out but if he can find his form before that and work hard under Wilder he should start kicking on once more.

Jay Taylor

It is a surprise Boro are letting him go.

He has pace, power and the ability to get a decent cross in.

After Adama Traore went, you’d have imagined that the winger would have been given a chance at the Riverside.

Middlesbrough’s loss, however, is the Blades’ gain and he will certainly add a little spice on the wing for Chris Wider’s men.

Alfie Burns

I don’t see where Johnson fits into Chris Wilder’s system.

Over the last two years, the Blades have been excellent in their 3-5-2 formation, playing without natural wingers.

Of course, Johnson will provide them with a different option, but I can see the Boro winger spending a lot more time on the bench.

Gary Hutchinson

It’d be an interesting signing, but I’m going to sit on the fence as to whether it is a good one.

Johnson seems to be the type of player the Blades need, creative and quick with an eye for a goal too, but there’s a big question mark over whether he can do it at this level.

Creating chances at Oxford against Gillingham and Southend is one thing, but doing it at Aston Villa or Leeds is another thing entirely.

I think there’s potential there, but it is a roll of the dice by Chris Wilder.
