The international break has been a welcome respite for Preston North End manager Alex Neil, whose side have had a torrid start to the season and find themselves down in 22nd place only a point off bottom spot with a lowly nine points from a possible 36.

Neil 37, is looking for recruits to reinvigorate his playing squad with 19-year-old striker Fraser Hornby of Everton a player Preston are considering, according to reports in the Sun on Sunday (Oct 14, Page 61).

Hornby faces two months out following surgery as reported in the Liverpool Echo, but could be available next year once fit again.

So would Hornby be a good fit for Preston?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

It'd be an excellent move. Hornby was on the fringes of the Everton first team after his impressive run of form.

An ankle ligament injury has ruled him out for the foreseeable future, which will frustrate Hornby who had been widely tipped to make an appearance for the Everton side this season before injury struck.

Preston would be a fairly good destination for Hornby when he returns from injury, as they would be able to guarantee him the game time he needs to aid his development in the professional game.

Fraser Hornby has been training with the Everton first team so you can imagine how highly regarded he is at Goodison Park.

Having suffered an injury, he will be out for a couple of months so January could be the perfect time to give him a loan to be thrust into competitive action.

It would help him recover and gain match sharpness as well as gain first-team experience.

Preston are in a rut at the moment and fresh young ideas of Hornby in their striker could be the perfect addition.

George Dagless

Potentially.

Hornby is highly-rated by both his club and country at the younger level.

Scotland want to see him playing more, though, and working under Scotsman Alex Neil might help him out.

Gary Hutchinson

Not right now as he’s injured, but once he’s playing again, sure.

He’s got the international youth honours with Scotland and has scored in the PL2 as well.

If he’s not getting football at Everton, why not look elsewhere for senior first team action.
