Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is in the market for Swansea City winger Daniel James but would consider a move for his teammate Jefferson Montero if the former falls through, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The 29-year-old Ecuadorian is a different prospect to James, with a wealth of experience at club and international level and though he has not hit the heights since arriving in South Wales in 2014, he could prove a valuable addition to Bielsa's promotion chasing squad.

So would Montero be a good signing for Leeds?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

“Montero is a livewire and could add an abundance of energy into the midfield and attack for Leeds United.

“If the Daniel James move does not come to fruition, then I can see the appeal in going for Montero.

“The 29-year-old is in his prime and could be a really good addition for Bielsa’s side.”

Louie Chandler

"I think so.

"Montero showed earlier in the season how good he can be at this level and if he could find more consistency would be one of the Whites best players.

"It'd be a wise signing for the right fee."

Gary Hutchinson

“There’s more value here than in signing Daniel James.

“I think they need an older head, something a bit different to the exciting young players they currently have.

“Montero has that, he’s another threat, something extra for full backs to consider.

“They need to add these different elements to their overall offering.”

Jacob Potter

"He would be exactly what Leeds need.

"Montero hasn’t been getting anywhere near enough game time for Swansea this season and should arguably be playing Premier League football.

"He could be the type of impact player that Leeds need to take games to the opposition in the later stages of games."
