Swansea City are interested in Sunderland defender Tom Flanagan, with Graham Potter lining up a January move for the 26-year-old.

That's according to HITC Sport, who claim that the former Burton Albion man has been watched several times by the Welsh side.

And, they will have been impressed, with the Black Cats yet to lose a game in which Flanagan has played.

After only joining the club in the summer on a free transfer, he has formed a strong partnership with Jack Baldwin at the heart of Sunderland's defence in recent weeks.

Therefore, manager Jack Ross will be extremely reluctant to lose the influential defender, who only signed a two-year deal when he arrived at the Stadium of Light a few months ago.

But, should they be worried by this latest news?

We take a look...

George Dagless

It would be a worry for Sunderland.

The Black Cats are flying and Flanagan has helped form a very tidy defence since joining the club.

I can see why Swansea want him and the Wearsiders will want to keep him big time.

Chris Gallagher

He needs to stay.

Sunderland are flying right now and there is a real feel-good factor around the club and selling a first-team regular could damage that somewhat.

Promotion is a must this season, so Flanagan should not be sold at all in the New Year.

Alfie Burns

It'd be a massive blow and supporters would be disappointed to see Flanagan leave in the New Year.

Everything is going so well at the Stadium of Light at the moment, but this could be something that proves a real bump in the road if it materialises.

Surely Sunderland can't be tempted to offload such a key part of Ross' side?
