Aston Villa manager Dean Smith will be looking for back-to-back wins this weekend in the Second City derby, following a comprehensive 4-0 win over Derby County last time out.

A win is the only possible result if Villa harbour any outside promotion hopes, but it will be by no means a forgone conclusion, as Birmingham City will still have play-off aspirations for themselves.

So how damaging would a defeat be for Villa this weekend?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

“Hugely.

“If they’re serious about the top six, which is a slim hope at best, they have to win matches.

“The Derby win was massive and if they build on it, they might be the late runners.

“What a story it would be, another twist in a really interesting season.”

Jay Taylor

“It would show their resurgence with Grealish back in the side was a one-off.

“For morale, too, having just smashed Derby, to then lose, it could be a hammer blow to their confidence.

“The win over the Rams means nothing unless they follow it up with another three points on Sunday.”

Sam Rourke

"It'd be a massive blow.

"Villa simply need all the points they can possibly accumulate if they have any genuine hopes of snatching a play-off spot.

"A loss here at St Andrew's, and Villa have got no hope of a top six spot in my eyes."
