Brentford continue to draw admirers under Dean Smith as the Bees consolidate their position in the top six of the Championship.

But as Smith looks at ways to strengthen his squad for the rigours of a long season, he could consider a move for in-form striker Josh Maja, who currently plies his trade at League One Sunderland in the January transfer window.

The young star looks like he has a very bright future in the game, and he fits the model of Brentford buying young and ultimately developing them.

So should Brentford make a move for Maja? Would he be a good fit at Griffin Park?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

They wouldn’t get him.

Watkins and Maupay are great players and if they stay put, Brentford don’t need Maja.

I don’t think he’d swap the Black Cats for the Bees though.

Maja and Sunderland are on a mission and they’re going to achieve it together.

George Dagless

It might be worth it.

Sunderland want him to sign a new deal but if it starts to drag on questions will be asked.

Brentford have history of developing young players, this would be their latest chance to do so.

Sam Rourke

It'd be a cracking deal.

Maja is one of the most promising attacking talents emerging from the EFL, and he'd offer a fantastic alternative or partner to Neal Maupay upfront.

The only thing is, the Black Cats are likely to demand a hefty fee for their prized asset.
