Lazio are the latest club to show an interest in Swansea City's Andre Ayew ahead of the Italian transfer window shutting on Monday.

The 29-year-old spent last season with Fenerbahce after the Swans were relegated to the Championship but he is back in Wales now and has played the last three league games for Steve Cooper's side - which they have won. And, he has generally impressed in what has been a brilliant start of the season for the club.

Despite that, a move could still be on the cards and reports yesterday emerged suggesting that Sampdoria and Werder Bremen are keen on the Ghana captain.

And, Football Insider have now claimed that Lazio have joined the race for the player as Simone Inzaghi looks to strengthen his squad for their Serie A and Europa League campaign.

Even though Ayew is a regular in the team now, the Daily Star have stated that the Swans are desperate to shift the player because he earns over £80,000 a week on a deal that he signed when the club were in the top-flight.

The Verdict

With the Championship window shut, there's no doubt that this will be a massive loss for the Swans as he can't be replaced until January and they will be short on options in the final third.

So, from a football perspective, it's not going to help Cooper as he looks to build on a fantastic start to life as a manager.

Ultimately though, money talks and the Swans can't justify paying that huge salary to the player and you can understand why.

Therefore, you expect to see Ayew go before the deadline and securing a move to Lazio would be great for the midfielder.
