Italian club seal deal for controversial Leeds United defender

Empoli have sealed a deal for Leeds United defender Guiseppe Bellusci, Italian Football Daily has confirmed.
The Italian has returned to his homeland on an initial loan deal, with a view to a permanent move. His agent confirmed the move, saying:
“After two years in the English Championship with Leeds United, Giuseppe Bellusci is again in Serie A. The 26-year old defender born in 1989, who has picked up more than 100 appearances in Serie A, is officially a player of Empoli Calcio. Bellusci transfers on a loan to buy deal.”
Bellusci was brought in at the start of the 2014/15 season and initially impressed in his performances. However, he became less impressive to fans when he was part of the ‘sick six’ who refused to play against Charlton Athletic in April 2015.
He was in and out of the side last season under manager Steve Evans as his form differed throughout a tough season for the Whites.
With Garry Monk taking the reigns now at Elland Road, it appears Bellusci’s time may well be up and a move back to his homeland would appear to suit all parties.
Leeds are looking to rebuild over the summer and add quality to a young squad in the hope of bettering last seasons mid table finish. They recently completed the signing of Swedish striker Marcus Antonsson as Monk’s rebuilding job begins.
Leeds fans, what do you think to this news? Can he be replaced? Are you glad to see him go? Let us know in the comments!
