Aston Villa manager Dean Smith will be preparing hard for the 'richest game in football' as his Villans side face up to Derby County in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Bank Holiday Monday, with the prize of a place in the Premier League next season up for grabs.

Despite the preparation for this huge fixture being a priority, Smith is still planning for the future with Luton Town full-back James Justin a £7.5m transfer target, as per Football Insider.

If Justin arrives at Villa Park, it could call into question the future of veteran full-back Alan Hutton who has made 173 appearances for Villa since joining the club in 2011.

So, if Justin does join, do you think it would spell the end for Hutton at Villa?

We discuss........

Ben Lang

“Not necessarily just yet. I think the deal could hinge on Villa’s promotion.

“I’m not sure Villa would be able to afford the £7.5m fee if they don’t go up, which could raise doubts over the deal.

“But if Justin does arrive at Villa Park, I can’t see any way back into the side for Hutton and I think his days at the club are numbered.”

Gary Hutchinson

“His Villa career is over the minute the whistle is blown on the play-off final.

“He’s been a good campaigner for them, but his future is not in the Championship.

“He’s looked leggy when he’s played and his age has finally caught up with him.

“There’s no shame in that, but it’s time to move on.”

George Brooks

"I think so.

"Hutton has been an important player for Villa over the past few seasons and but this could spell the end of his time at Villa Park.

"Dean Smith will be looking to strengthen his squad in the summer - whether the team win promotion or not - and Justin would be an ideal replacement for Hutton, although I'm sure Villa fans will be sad to see him go."

Alfie Burns

“You’ve got to say so, it wouldn't surprise me.

“Times are changing at Villa Park under Dean Smith and I can’t imagine too many of the old guard sticking around next season.

“Despite Villa’s recent upturn in results, new full-backs are needed, and Justin would be a good start for the club.

“He’s versatile and has plenty of potential, which makes him the perfect Hutton replacement at B6.”
