Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed a promising start to the season, with Garry Monk's side in eighth place in the Championship, just three points behind current leaders West Brom.

With the league pausing for the international break, Monk has received a boost, with the news that striker Fernando Forestieri has served the ban that has kept him sidelined for the last six matches, with him now available when the Owls get back to action on October 18th, as reported in The Star.

But do you feel the return of Forestieri will mean that Sam Winnall will be pushed further down the pecking order at Wednesday?

We discuss........

Chris Gallagher

"Yes, unfortunately for the ex-Barnsley man.

"The simple fact is that Forestieri has qualities that nobody else in the squad boasts, he is creative, good on the ball and a real classy player - at his best.

"So, even if he doesn't get into the XI straight away, he is someone that Monk will turn to from the bench and that means someone will miss out.

"Steven Fletcher is the main number nine and Atdhe Nuhiu appears to be the first backup, meaning Winnall is struggling for game time already and that's not going to get any easier now. A January move may be on the cards if he wants regular football."

Toby Wilding

"It wouldn't surprise me.

"It has been a difficult few weeks for Winnall, who already seems to have found himself behind Steven Fletcher and Atdhe Nuhiu in the pecking order recently.

"With Winnall having struggled to make much of an attacking impact as it is, you can understand why he appears to be behind those two in the pecking order, and I don't think Forestieri's return is going to help him much here either.

"The Italian himself is of course an experienced operator at this level with the Owls, and that will surely mean he is someone Monk will look to turn to make things happen for Wednesday going forward, which may leave Winnall in the firing line given his own recent performances."

Jacob Potter

"It’s inevitable that Winnall falls down the pecking order with Forestieri set to return from his suspension.

"Winnall can’t argue that he’s had his chances to feature for the Owls first-team and wasted a number of opportunities in their Carabao Cup game against Everton.

"Forestieri will be keen to prove a point and if he can recapture his best form in front of goal under Garry Monk’s guidance, then there’s no doubt in my mind in saying that Winnall’s days are numbered at Hillsborough.

"Forestieri scored 12 goals in the 2016/17 season and will fancy his chances of partnering Steven Fletcher in attack for Sheffield Wednesday as the season progresses.

"It wouldn’t surprise me to see Winnall pushing for an exit from the club in the New Year."
