Blackburn Rovers face a mid-table finish this season having failed to remain competitive, in what has been a tightly-contested promotion race in the Championship this season.

Despite failing to challenge for promotion, one bright spot for Rovers fans has been the form of loan midfielder Harrison Reed who moved from Southampton in the summer on a season long loan.

Reed has now moved back to his parent club after an ankle injury curtailed his season, but prior to that the 24-year-old chipped in with three goals and five assists in 33 league appearances this season.

So should Blackburn look to make a permanent move for Reed in the summer?

We discuss........

Benjamin Lang

"Rovers should definitely go for this if it becomes a possibility.

"Reed has been one of Mowbray's star men this season, and he has also developed a strong rapport with the fans.

"However, I think they will struggle to get it over the line. Reed now has a chance to stake his claim for a place in the starting XI at Southampton, so will most likely stay with Saints next season."

Louie Chandler

"It wouldn't be a bad idea.

"Reed was a consistent and reliable performer in Rovers midfield this season and would be a smart signing if they can get him.

"However, they should make sure that they are not paying through the nose for him."

Gary Hutchinson

“I could see the benefits, certainly.

“He’s done really well there and is a competent and composed footballer.

“There’s always a belief that loan players should be pursued though.

“I don’t buy it. They serve a purpose but unless they’re outstanding, there’s always someone else available.”
