The summer transfer window is fast approaching and there is sure to be an awful lot of movement too and from Championship clubs.

Stoke City is a place where there is sure to be plenty of action, with Nathan Jones likely to put his own stamp on what is still largely Gary Rowett's side.

However, one player he may have to do without is experienced midfielder Joe Allen.

The Welshman was linked with a move to Premier League West Ham United on Wednesday and it would surely be hard for the Potters to keep hold of him if the Telegraph's report is to be believed.

But, considering all the talent in the Hammers' squad, would Allen actually be able to break into the first team?

We discuss...

Ben Lang

"I don't see any reason why Allen can't cement a place in the West Ham team.

"He is a well-rounded midfielder who can succeed in the Premier League if his passing qualities are utilised correctly.

"He would fit in with Pellegrini's style of football, and would offer stern midfield competition for the likes of Mark Noble and Robert Snodgrass."

George Harbey

"It would be very hard for him to do so.

"West Ham have plenty of talented midfielders at the club, and would you bank on Allen getting in ahead of the likes of Mark Noble and Declan Rice?

"I think if he were to leave Stoke, then it would have to be for regular game-time, and I’m not sure whether he would get that at the London Stadium."

Toby Wilding

"Their midfield is pretty strong at the minute, but that could change in the summer.

"If a key man such as Felipe Anderson was to leave as has been suggested, then West Ham would need a strong replacement to be a regular feature for the club, and you feel Allen could offer that."
