AS Monaco are interesting in signing Swansea City winger Daniel James, as the player closes in on a move to Manchester United, according to a report by the Evening Standard.

The 21-year-old was one of the standout players for Swansea in the Championship last season and has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford for months now.

This latest report from the Evening Standard states that Manchester United are close to reaching an agreement with Swansea to sign the winger and are now being forced to speed up negotiations, due to interest from Monaco.

So, would Monaco be a good move for James? We discuss...

Jacob Potter

"He should consider this seriously.

"We've already seen Sancho and Nelson thrive with moves abroad, and I believe that James could follow in their footsteps.

"If he's guaranteed game time here, then I would choose them over Man United."

Chris Gallagher

"It would be too risky.

"The chance to play for Monaco would no doubt appeal but it could harm the wingers development.

"I think he would be able to handle the move but a new league, culture and way of playing could require a lot of adapting on his part.

"We've seen Oliver Burke struggle when he moved to Germany, so playing it safe and staying in the UK may be the best option at this stage of James' career."

George Brooks

"Monaco have a good reputation for developing talent young players, so this could be a great move for James.

"He's probably got more of a chance of getting regular game time there than at Old Trafford and this is something that he should seriously consider before making his decision.

"The player could find it very hard to turn down a move to Manchester United though, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up."
