Middlesbrough held onto the last Championship play-off place following a 1-1 draw at Blackburn at the weekend, with striker Britt Assombalonga coming off the bench for Boro, to score the goal that salvaged a point for Tony Pulis' side.

The 26-year-old Congolese striker has struggled for a starting berth under Pulis and has been used predominately from the bench, but with six goals in his 18 appearances so far this season, has he done enough to warrant a starting berth?

So we ask, should Assombalonga be starting for Boro?

We discuss.....

Jacob Potter

It would be long overdue.

The forward has struggled for goals in recent weeks but he certainly took his chance and snatched what could be a crucial point against Blackburn.

When Assombalonga is on form, he is one of the best striker’s in the Championship.

Alfie Burns

He’s got to be knocking on the door now.

Assombalonga’s record in the Championship is really impressive and it is a surprise to see him in and out of the side.

Pulis needs to mix things up, and getting him back in the starting XI is definitely something to consider.

Gary Hutchinson

I’ve said all along he should, but I’m not sure he will.

He’s a real talent and when I see other forwards being linked with Boro it boils my blood.

There’s fewer better in the division than him, but he struggles for minutes.

Absurd.
