Leeds United recorded back-to-back draws at the weekend when they shared the points with Sheffield Wednesday to leave the Whites in third place in the Championship, two points adrift of leaders West Brom.

But despite performing well on the pitch Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa is seemingly still looking to strengthen his squad with a loan move for Chelsea's 19-year-old full-back Reece James being considered, according to a report in The Sun.

The Whites though, will face a fight with Steve Bruce's Newcastle for the player's signature, as per the aforementioned report.

So would it be a coup for Leeds if they were able to land James ahead of Newcastle in January?

We discuss.........,.

Louie Chandler

"Oh it would be an enormous coup.

"James was one of the stand out players in the second tier last season and frankly I would be surprised if Chelsea sent him to the second tier again.

"However, the lure of working with Bielsa may prove too much and his arrival could be a game changer for Leeds.

"James is capable of playing three positions to a very high level which would immediately solve a host of squad issues currently troubling Leeds."

Kris Smith

“This would be a huge coup as James has proved himself already in the division with a side struggling in defence, let alone the division’s best defence.

“Last season, James shone in a Wigan side fighting for their life at the bottom end of the table, as he scooped up multiple awards at Wigan’s end of season party.

“In particular last season, James caught the eye against Leeds when he scored a free-kick against them in the home fixture to then put in a marvellous defensive display at Elland Road as Wigan pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the season.

“Leeds’ depth at the back is no secret and not only would James help plug a gap, but also enhance the side at both ends of the pitch, as he has proven already in his short career.”

"I can't see this move materialising given that James looks likely to be involved in Lampard's Chelsea plans this season, but it would be a serious coup for Leeds if they could pull it off.

"James is a clear talent and he enjoyed an excellent loan spell at Wigan last season, which means he will now be familiar with the Championship. He would be an asset to Leeds' squad in the second half of the season.

"However, there are a number of potential barriers to this move. The first being that James is set to be involved heavily for Chelsea this season, and I think James would much rather this than a loan spell at Leeds, where he has no guarantee of immediately making the starting line-up.

"Also, it seems somewhat unlikely that Lampard would allows James to join Leeds after the former Derby boss' experience with the club last season. Leeds' recent loan moves for Chelsea players Jamal Blackman, Izzy Brown and Lewis Baker have also not ended well, so I don't think this rumour should be taken too seriously for now."
