Rangers are said to be one of the clubs interested in signing Millwall defender, Mahlon Romeo ahead of a potential summer switch according to The Express.

West Ham are also said to have registered their own interest in bringing the 23-year-old to the London Stadium and the two clubs are set to battle it out to sign Romeo.

It is thought that Rangers boss, Steven Gerrard has targeted the young full-back as James Tavernier's potential replacement.

Tavernier has been linked to a number of clubs down south and could well be on the move when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

Romeo has been impressive this season and a rare bright spark in a disappointing league campaign for Millwall in the Championship.

He's out of contract in the summer which has only raised interest in signing him in the near future, and it seems unlikely that his long-term future will be with Neil Harris' side.

But would Romeo be a good signing for Steven Gerrard's side?

We discuss....

Gary Hutchinson:

"Yes, certainly better for them than West Ham.

"It’s all about the level of opposition.

"Harsh maybe, but Hamilton and St Mirren wouldn’t survive in our second tier.

"That means he’d be at a big club, but with arguably easier opponents.

Jay Taylor:

"Rangers are keen on Millwall's defenders, aren't they?

"I could see this being a good signing for Gerrard.

"Romeo is young and has an abundance of talent.

"It could be a very impressive addition if he pulls it off - and on a free, too!

"It would be a steal."

George Harbey:

"I think it would be a really good signing for Rangers.

"Romeo really impressed me for Millwall when they were pushing for a play-off spot last season and he'd certainly offer some pace down the right-hand side.

"He's still relatively young and has plenty of years ahead of him, and he could certainly challenge Tavernier for the right-back spot."
