According to reports from the Daily Record, Blackburn Rovers are interested in signing Rangers winger Jordan Jones.

The 25-year-old has endured a turbulent spell at Ibrox since arriving on a free transfer from Kilmarnock in the summer, and has found regular game time hard to come by in Glasgow.

The winger was sent off in the 2-0 Old Firm derby defeat to Celtic in September and picked up an injury in the process - he hasn't made an appearance for Steven Gerrard's side since.

Now, news has emerged claiming that Blackburn are interested in a potential loan-to-buy deal for Jones, who has worked briefly under Tony Mowbray before at Middlesbrough.

Here, we discuss whether the Northern Ireland international would be a good signing for Rovers...

"This could be a solid signing for Tony Mowbray’s men adding depth out wide, where they have struggled in recent weeks thanks to injuries to key players.

"Jones has barely featured under Steven Gerrard this season, making four league appearances at Rangers, so it would be in his best interests to find a club where he can get more playing time.

"Tony Mowbray has had to shuffle the pack a lot over the last few games after Bradley Dack suffered a horrible injury along with other first-team absentees, so adding another attacking player would relieve a lot of the pressure.

"Jones would be a relatively low-risk signing for Blackburn if he were to sign on loan as it covers a huge gap, and it could pay massive dividends if he hits the ground running."

"This could turn out to be somewhat of a coup by Blackburn if they can convince Jones to make the move to Ewood Park this month.

"Signed by Rangers last summer, the winger initially made a positive start to life under the guidance of manager Steven Gerrard before picking up a serious knee injury.

"Having since returned to full fitness, Jones could help Blackburn fill the void left by Bradley Dack who has recently been ruled out for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign due to injury.

"Capable of playing on both wings, the 25-year-old may end playing a key role in helping Rovers achieve a relative amount of success over the coming months if he can adapt to life in the Championship."

Toby Wilding

"For me, it's one they have to try for.

"Ever since the season-ending injury suffered by Bradley Dack just before Christmas, Rovers have badly lacked a creative spark and goalscoring touch going forward, putting their hopes of a push for the play-offs somewhat under threat.

"It seems therefore that Rovers have to add to their attacking options this month, and Jones does seem to be an option to take up that role, something he may be willing to do given his recent lack of game time at Rangers.

"Indeed, with Rangers manager Steven Gerrard suggesting the club could loan out a number of players this month, that is something Tony Mowbray and co. surely have to jump on here, given the regularity with which the Blackburn boss has noted the difficulty of bringing in players in this particular transfer window."

George Harbey

"I think that it would be a real coup for Blackburn to lure Jones away from Ibrox, only a few months after he sealed what would have been a dream move for the winger.

"He was outstanding for Kilmarnock last season and chipped in with plenty of goals and assists, in what was a remarkable campaign for Steve Clarke's side.

"But he has had to be patient for regular game time ever since losing his cool against Celtic on the first day of September, and has had to keep his head down and work hard to earn Gerrard's trust back.

"I would be very surprised to see him leave Ibrox after such a short period of time, but Blackburn are desperate for a creative spark since the injury to Bradley Dack, and they should do all they can to get him."
