Doncaster Rovers are in talks to seal a move for Aston Villa's Callum O'Hare according to Football Insider.

O'Hare is unlikely to feature much for Villa this season, with Dean Smith adding to his attacking options over the summer as they look to adjust to life in the Premier League.

In our latest FLW Six Pointer, we look into Doncaster's rumoured interest in more detail.

Firstly, what do we know about Callum O'Hare?

"O'Hare was one of the brightest prospects to come through the Aston Villa youth teams, and he made eight appearances for the first-team in the 2017/18 season.

"He spent last season out on loan with Carlisle United, where he scored three goals in 16 appearances as they finished 11th in the League Two table.

"That has been the only loan spell of his career so far, and he'll be hoping to find more regular minutes in senior football in the near future."

Would be be a good signing for Doncaster?

"He'd arrive with a point to prove, that's for sure.

"O'Hare hasn't had the regular game time that he would have liked to in recent years, and he'll be keen to make up for lost time.

"He's unproven at League One level, but has played for Aston Villa in the Championship in the past, so it would be a real coup for Doncaster if they struck a deal to sign him."

What would he bring to their side this season?

"He'll bring a direct style of play going forward, which could be a real threat for Doncaster this season.

"They badly need a goalscorer in their team after John Marquis left for Portsmouth, and O'Hare would have to hit the ground running in front of goal.

"Doncaster will be hoping to build on an impressive season last term, and if they were to add O'Hare to their squad, then they'd certainly be in with a shout of challenging for promotion to the Championship."

Will his lack of game time in senior football be a concern?

"It will be a slight concern, but he deserves a shot.

"O'Hare has been out on loan at Carlisle in the past, and put in some impressive performances for them in League Two, so there are certain to be doubts as to whether he can cut it at League One level.

"But if he can build on some strong showings for the Villa under 23's side, then Doncaster would be foolish not to to take a gamble on landing his signature in this year's campaign."

Is it a surprise to see Aston Villa not giving him regular game time in recent seasons?

"He's made eight appearances in the last three seasons for Villa which is surprising to see if I'm honest.

"But with Aston Villa now being in the Premier League, there is absolutely no chance that he will be playing for them in the top-flight anytime soon.

"A move away from Villa Park will be the best move for both parties, as they can't afford to let his exciting potential go to waste this season."

How should Doncaster fans be feeling about their rumoured interest in O'Hare?

"They'll be cautious, but keen to see him in action.

"There's no doubting that O'Hare is a player with a bright future ahead of him, but he needs to showcase his talent for a club regularly as soon as possible.

"He's not been given enough opportunities to prove himself in recent seasons, but if he can find consistency in front of goal, then Doncaster supporters have every reason to believe he could be the player to fire them into promotion contention this season."
