Nottingham Forest could be dealt a major blow to their promotion chances in January with speculation linking a key man away from the City Ground.

Joe Lolley has played a starring role in their impressive start to the season and he continued his excellent start to the season, with an eye-opening performance against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

The winger scored once, and assisted an incredible four times in their thrilling 5-5 draw with Dean Smith's side at Villa Park in the game of the season so far.

Lolley has been linked with a move to Premier League side, Watford, (according to the Daily Mail) with the Hornets preparing to table a £5m bid for the in-form winger who is sure to have a number of clubs chasing him when the transfer window reopens.

But what do our FLW writers think about Forest's promotion chances if they are to lose Lolley to Watford in January?

We discuss....

George Harbey:

It would be a huge blow to Forest's promotion push.

To say that Lolley has been an important player for Forest is an understatement.

He's contributed to 13 goals this season and is a vital part of their attack.

I don't think he is replaceable.

Louie Chandler:

It would be a monumental blow.

Lolley has been Forest's player of the season by some distance so far this season and often drags the entire team forward on his own.

They simply must hold onto him.

Chris Gallagher:

It could be a season-defining blow.

Lolley proved how important he is to Nottingham Forest last night with one goal and four assists in a remarkable game at Villa Park.

Quite simply, if the Reds have ambitions of promotion, they can't be losing their best players and Lolley certainly falls into that category after his displays this season.
