If a run of four straight defeats was not enough, Wigan Athletic manager Paul Cook will be concerned to hear that there is further interest in his star player Nick Powell, this time from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, according to TEAMTalk.

Cook will have been aware of the interest from Celtic for 24-year-old Powell, but this could be trumped by RB Leipzig who seem keen to offer a pre-contract to the player in January.

Powell has already turned down a new deal at the DW Stadium and with his contract up at the end of the season, a move away seems very likely for the former Manchester United man.

But how big a blow would it be to Wigan if Powell left?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

It would be a huge blow, and a strange transfer, to be honest.

No odder than when Steven Fletcher went to Marseille, but odd nonetheless.

If Nick Powell was to leave that could be the difference in Paul Cook’s men consolidating in the Championship or exiting it come the end of the season.

Gary Hutchinson

The biggest blow they could face on the playing side.

Powell is their talisman, he’s sensational on his day and this would set them back hugely.

The move would be foolish though, Powell needs to stay in the UK.

George Harbey

It would be a huge blow.

He’s such an important player for Wigan, he contributes to goals and assists, and if he left it’d be so hard to replace him.
