Plenty of Derby County fans have reacted on social media, after the club confirmed that manager Frank Lampard has left to join Chelsea.

Lampard took charge of Derby last year and was able to guide the Rams to the Championship play-off final in his first season as a manager last term.

The 41-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Stamford Bridge and Derby have agreed a compensation package with Chelsea to allow him to leave.

Derby assistant manager Jody Morris and first-team coach Chris Jones have also left the club to join Lampard's coaching staff at Chelsea.

Lampard has been the favourite become the next manager of Chelsea for weeks, following Maurizio Sarri's decision to leave the club to join Juventus last month.

Derby owner Mel Morris had hoped to keep hold of Lampard and had opened talks with the manager of extending his contract at Pride Park, but gave him permission to speak to Chelsea last week.

Former PSV Eindhoven and Fenerbahce manager Phillip Cocu is reportedly the favourite to replace Lampard at Pride Park.

Derby fans were understandably disappointed that Lampard has decided to leave the club after just one season in charge, but many of them thanked him for his efforts last season and wished him all the best for his future career.
