Nottingham Forest are performing well in the Championship this season, with Sabri Lamouchi's side in fourth place in the table, on a run of nine matches unbeaten in the league, ahead of the visit of Brentford this weekend.

One player who is excelling for Lamouchi is defender Joe Worrall who has been a regular this season, having spent last season out on loan at Rangers.

Do you think the experience he gained in Scotland is one of the main reasons why Worrall is excelling this season?

We discuss........

George Brooks

"I think so. Aitor Karanka's decision to send Worrall out on loan to Rangers seemed a little questionable at the time, but it has undoubtedly made him a better player.

"Given that Worrall had already made over 50 appearances for Nottingham Forest by the time he was sent out on loan, it can't have been easy for him to take, but he's showed great character to force his way back into the team under Sabri Lamouchi and he deserves a lot of credit for that.

"Worrall made a big impact on loan at Rangers last season and his performances for Forest so far this season have been very good. He's a big presence on the pitch, a real leader and he's formed a good partnership with Michael Dawson at centre-back.

"The decision to send him out on loan seemed questionable at the time, but it has unquestionably made him a better player and has to be considered part of the reason for his good form this season."

Chris Thorpe

"It was so, so worth it, I have always been a firm believer in loaning out young players as opposed to having them play un-competitive youth level football.

"Worrall definitely benefited from learning from an experienced head in Steven Gerrard last term.

"Although I would also say that playing alongside Michael Dawson this season has also helped his game come on leaps and bounds.

"I think it is fair to consider him one of the best up and coming defenders in the Championship at this present moment."

Ben Lang

"Worrall has looked a different player following his loan move and it seems the temporary switch to Scotland has done wonders for his development.

"He has looked at home in the Forest side since his return as he has helped marshal the Reds' defence effectively during their impressive start to the season.

"Worrall's form this term shows even how an unorthodox loan move can benefit a player, as putting him out of his comfort zone has clearly had a helping hand in improving him as a player.

"It will be interesting to see whether Forest learn from the success of their decision and sanction similar loan deals for fringe players in the near future."
