Nottingham Forest striker Lewis Grabban has praised fans for their ongoing support, after the 1-0 win over Derby County at the weekend.

The 31-year-old has been a regular for Forest under Sabri Lamouchi this term, playing an integral role in helping the Reds climb into the play-off places.

At the weekend, the former Aston Villa and AFC Bournemouth man scored his seventh goal of the season, netting the winner against Forest's arch rivals Derby County.

The experienced front-man pounced on a loose back-pass and slotted coolly under Kelle Roos, to secure an important 1-0 win for the Reds.

With the club sitting three points off the automatic promotion places with a game in hand, there is plenty for Forest fans to be optimistic about.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live after the game, Grabban praised Forest fans for their support, urging them to "get on board" and believe in the work they are doing.

He said: "I hope they believe, because we do. They're coming along with us. The more people that get on board the better it is.

"It was probably the best one that I've played here. It was loud and the fans were great. In terms of all derby games I've played in, it was up there, with 29,000 in it was fun."

After the international break, Forest face promotion rivals Bristol City at Ashton Gate - Sabri Lamouchi's side currently sit fifth in the Sky Bet Championship table.

The Verdict

Grabban showed his true attacking instincts to score the game's only goal at the weekend, and add another one to his impressive tally for the season.

He was in the right place at the right time to pounce on Jayden Bogle's terrible back-pass, and he made no mistake when slotting home.

He didn't really have any chances at the weekend due to the tight, scrappy nature of the local derby, but the one chance that came his way, he scored. He is a class act and will be so important for Forest this term.
