Swansea City are performing well under manager Graham Potter, with the Swans in ninth place in the Championship, seven points off leaders Leeds United.

For manager Graham Potter, he will be pleased with the news that midfielder Jay Fulton has signed a new deal, that will keep him at the Liberty Stadium until 2021, as confirmed on the club website.

The 24-year-old's previous deal was set to expire at the end of next season and he had been linked with an exit from the Championship club in the summer.

So is Fulton signing a new deal, good news for Swansea?

It’s a good sign that Swansea are able to nail down their promising young players for the long-term.

They have an outside chance of making it back to the Premier League but in reality, their chances look slim.

Therefore it is imperative you keep hold of your young players to be self-sustainable and able to develop them instead of spending over the odds on a player who does the same job

It’s a really good bit of business from Graham Potter.

Gary Hutchinson

Yes, Swansea are doing things the old way, building a side that is settled and consistent

By rewarding players with new deals they’re creating an environment that promotes internal progression.

I like the new look Swans. It might be a big step to go up this year, but they’ll be knocking on the door again soon.

Sam Rourke

It was essential business.

Fulton has become a key cog in the Swansea City midfield, and this deal was much needed.

Fulton did attract some interest in the summer, and there could have been vultures circling in January, this ultimately helps fend off these vultures for a while.
