After a poor start, Sheffield Wednesday have turned things around and sit third in the Championship having won their last three matches.

This change of fortunes seems to coincide with manager Jos Luhukay dropping striker Fernando Forestieri and defender Sam Hutchinson.

So is the decision by Luhukay to wield the axe on the duo, a masterstroke on his part?

We discuss.....

Jay Taylor

It was a real statement.

Dropping the big names was side that Owls fans and probably the player had not seen previously.

Having two of your side’s better players axed was a statement that you will not play based on reputation, and that probably took the players by surprise to realise Jos Luhukay means business.

Inspired decision and one that is paying dividends.

Gary Hutchinson

It looks like it, doesn’t it?

Certainly, in the case of Forestieri it looked like utter madness.

He’s sublime when he’s on form and would walk into 90% of Championship sides.

Still, the results don’t lie.

George Dagless

It looks that way.

It was obviously a high-risk move if it had back-fired but you have to say fair play to Luhukay as the results have picked up.

The Owls look that bit more balanced at the moment and the pair will have to work hard to get back into contention.
