Football League World's Leeds United fan pundit Bradley Marshall believes it is only a matter of time before Liverpool winger Ryan Kent signs for the club following recent reports.

On Monday, the Daily Record broke the news that, after impressing with Rangers last season, the winger was open to a move to Marcelo Bielsa's side and although Steven Gerrard remains keen to bring him back to Ibrox, Marshall can only see the move going one way.

"I personally think the move is very likely," the regular punter told Football League World.

"Kent had an impressive season under Gerrard at Rangers and they clearly rate him as they are looking to bring him back to the Ibrox for next season.

"However, in order for Kent to really improve as a player, he has to have another go at the Championship with a club like Leeds.

"Playing well in the Scottish Premiership is completely different to playing well in both the Premier League and the Championship, so I believe in order to progress he has to play English football."

After coming so close to winning promotion last season only to crash out in the play-off semi-finals, you could understand if the mood at Leeds remained a bit glum.

But Marshall cannot help but be encouraged by the early signs and rumours coming from the summer transfer window.

"Leeds have clearly identified that we lack character and some class when attacking, and it has filled me with lots of optimism for the coming season.

"The overall quality of players that we have been linked with this summer has already been much better than last, and Kent epitomises that."

Along with Kent, the Whites have also been heavily linked with a loan move for Wolves winger Helder Costa, somebody who played a big role in Nuno Espirito Santo's promotion winning side two years ago.

But although the arrival of Costa would still excited Marshall, it is Kent that he believes would be the biggest statement signing his side could make.

"His acquisition would be a warning to other Championship clubs," he said.

"It shows that we mean business, and that last season wasn’t a fluke.

"I feel Kent will have a point to prove if he came back to England and under Bielsa I believe we will see the best of him."
