West Brom youngster Nathan Ferguson has been attracting interest from Crystal Palace according to The Sun (print edition, page 61, 22/09), with the Premier League side being impressed by his breakthrough season with the Baggies.

Ferguson has made seven appearances in West Brom's league campaign this term, and it seems as though his strong start to the season hasn't gone unnoticed.

Football League World's West Brom fan pundit Sarah Rudge has issued her thoughts on Palace's rumoured interest in Ferguson, and was full of praise for the 18-year-old.

"It is very early for him to be linked with a move away being only eight games into his first full season, with him playing for the first team on a regular basis.

"However, he has been nothing short of magnificent for us but at still just 18-years-old he has plenty of progress to make.

"I think in years to come he could play for a top, top club and no disrespect to Crystal Palace but I believe he has the quality to play for a club with much higher ambitions."

Rudge also revealed what Ferguson brings to the West Brom team, and struggled to find any faults in his attributes from what she has seen so far this season.

"Ferguson has been outstanding. He began the season by playing in the right-back position but due to an injury to left-back Kieran Gibbs he has been utilised there by Slaven Bilic and performed brilliantly.

"He has everything you look for in a full back with pace, energy, good positional awareness and not afraid to make a tackle. He was awarded man of the match on the opening day of the season against Nottingham Forest and he hasn’t looked back since.

"I'm running out of superlatives for the youngster."

The West Brom fan pundit felt that Ferguson is worth at least £15m in today's market, and is confident that the youngster is capable of making the step up to the Premier League in the future.

"In today’s market and with Ferguson being so young, it should take an almighty offer from any club for us to even consider selling him. Despite this being his first season he is one of the first names on the team sheet and rightly so.

"When you see the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka being sold for £50million and although Ferguson hasn’t got Premier League experience, Ferguson is worth at least upwards of around £15million in my opinion.

"He has been likened by some pundits to Wan-Bissaka and given a few more years he could easily make that step up."

The regular punter isn't expecting West Brom to even consider letting Ferguson leave the club in January's transfer window, and claims that Slaven Bilic needs to keep him at the Hawthorns to retain the ideal squad depth currently available to the Baggies boss.

"No. Absolutely not. We have had a very good start to the season and a major part of that success has been due to Ferguson.

"With us looking to get promoted we need a big squad full of quality and with two players in every position fighting to get into the starting line up for a long season ahead.

"As impressive as Ferguson has been it is still just eight Championship games into his career and he needs to be managed carefully."
