Despite frenzied media speculation West Brom fans would be forgiven for getting quite nervous with their permanent manager situation still to be resolved, especially as there is only a few weeks left until pre-season kicks off.

To give any new manager a chance of taking advantage of the summer transfer window and stamping their own mark on the Baggies squad, the board will need to get an appointment finalised as a matter of urgency.

It does appear the Baggies' new boss will be Slaven Bilic, as per the Birmingham Mail, but it's fair to say it's taken some time to reach this conclusion.

So how can West Brom's approach to getting a new manager best be summed up? Has it been a case of patience or does it show a lack of direction?

We discuss........

Louie Chandler

"It seems pretty erratic.

"It is almost like they just sent out one mass email to every manager they could think of and are seeing who replies.

"They really need to tie somebody down soon, however, otherwise the transfer window will completely pass them by."

George Dagless

"Rudderless.

"Those in charge of the search have got some questions to ask because it has taken too long.

"From the Darren Moore sacking they haven't really had an idea of what they want to do and whilst patience is a good thing this has dragged on too long."

Kealan Hughes

"I think they're being patient, it is an important decision so it is good that they are taking their time with it, as there are still a few weeks left until pre season.

"The concern I would have as a fan is that money seems to be the stumbling block, first with Jokanovic and also with Labbadia.

"Those targets, plus Bilic, would give me optimism however. Jokanovic is proven at this level and I think he would get them up, so the fact talks have reportedly broken is a huge blow."
