Reading continue their search for a replacement for sacked manager Paul Clement, with Vitor Pereira current manager at Shanghai SIPG among those being considered for the job according to a report by Sky Sports News.

It is understood that the 50-year-old who has just won the Chinese Super League and has also managed in Portugal, Greece and Germany, has flown to the UK this week for discussions.

The only possible stumbling block could be the fact that the former Portuguese midfielder would likely have to take a pay cut if he was to move to the Madejski Stadium.

So is Vitor Pereira the man to save Reading from relegation?

We discuss.....

It’s really difficult to say who is the right appointment for Reading.

Whoever arrives, whether it is Pereira or someone else, they are going to have a huge task on their hands.

There are many pros to this type of appointment, but also many negatives.

Reading just need someone in fast.

Jay Taylor

I can’t see it in all honesty; I think it’s an appointment that doesn’t make sense, if it happens, of course.

He might have been a success in China, but the standard of football over there is not on par with the Championship.

It might have an effect right away, as in the ‘new manager bounce’ but I see it ending in tears if it’s a man who doesn’t know how to get out of a Championship relegation battle.

Louie Chandler

It seems like an unnecessary risk.

What Reading need now is an experienced head to get them through the rest of the current season.

Then they can look to bringing in someone like Pereira.
