West Brom get back into league action next weekend following the international break, when they make the trip to Middlesbrough, with Slaven Bilic's side looking to extend their lead at the top of the Championship.

One player who has been on fire for the Baggies is West Ham winger Grady Diangana, who has scored four goals and made three assists in 10 appearances so far on his season-long loan at the Hawthorns.

Diangana's fine form has though may make his parent club West Ham look to recall the 21-year-old during the season, something Albion journalist Steve Madeley hinted at in response to a Baggies fan’s question on The Athletic Q&A forum.

So if the Hammers recall Diangana, could that derail West Brom's promotion push?

We discuss........

Sam Rourke

"It reminds me of the Harvey Barnes situation.

"Last season, Barnes was one of, if not, the best performer for the Baggies in the early stages of the season and after such an electric start, he was recalled by his parent club Leicester.

"Barnes was sorely missed, and I feel the same would be the case for Diangana, who has looked a real live-wire for the Midlands outfit so far this season - his trickery, dribbling ability and guile has been superb so far, and it'd be a major blow if he was to be recalled.

"West Ham should let him stay at the Hawthorns though, he is getting frequent game-time and will develop into a much better, more rounded player upon his return to the London Stadium.

Josh Cole

“This would unquestionably be a huge blow for West Brom as Diangana has been a revelation since joining the club on loan from West Ham.

“As well as providing three assists for his team-mates during the opening months of the season, the winger has also fired in four goals in the Championship.

“Currently thriving under the management of Slaven Bilic, Diangana could play a major role in helping West Brom secure promotion to the Premier League next May providing that he maintains his consistency.

“Therefore, it is imperative that West Brom do everything they can to keep him at the Hawthorns as a recall could be disastrous for their season.”

George Harbey

“It would be a monumental blow to West Brom’s promotion hopes if Diangana was to return to West Ham at any stage of the season.

“He has been an absolute revelation since signing for the Baggies, adding plenty of flair to their attack and scoring and producing so many goals.

“Thankfully, if he were to leave, then they still have the likes of Matheus Pereira, Romaine Sawyers and Matty Phillips who can add firepower from midfield.

“Although it wouldn’t be as big of a blow compared to Harvey Barnes going back to Leicester, he would leave a massive hole to fill on the left flank.”
