Preston midfielder Ben Pearson has joined Championship rivals Bournemouth on a permanent basis.

Pearson has been an outstanding servant at Deepdale following his move from Barnsley five years ago, making more than 150 appearances in all competitions for the Whites.

But whilst Pearson has been a key part of Preston’s midfielder in recent seasons, his contract was set to expire in the summer, meaning the Lancashire outfit would’ve risking losing him on a free transfer at the end of the campaign had they not acted in the January window.

And therefore, Pearson has made the switch to the promotion-chasing Cherries – with Bournemouth confirming the deal has been made for an undisclosed fee.

But whilst Preston have lost one of their most important players, they have already bought sensibly in the midfield department – signing Jayson Molumby on loan from Brighton and Ben Whiteman permanently from Doncaster which soften the blow for the Deepdale faithful.
