Sheffield Wednesday were condemned to yet another draw on the weekend, as they drew 2-2 with Hull City at Hillsborough.

Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal made the surprise decision to start Marco Matias over Ross Wallace on Saturday, in a move that came a shock to many.

Does this prove that the forgotten 28-year-old has a role to play at Wednesday?

We discuss....

Adam Simeoni

If he's playing, of course he has a role.

It was a bold call by Carvalhal to give Matias the start, and many Wednesday fans would have been shocked to see the name on the team sheet.

George Dagless

Well sort of but that's a worry.

Fans were mainly shocked to see that Matias was still at the club when the line-up was revealed on Saturday.

I think that the Owls need to bolster their squad in January rather than rely on what they have right now.

Alfie Burns

If Carvalhal had a fully fit squad, I don’t think Matias would have started, it seemed more of a desperate attempt to turn things around from Carvalhal.

Wednesday need results, and Carvalhal’s lengthy injury list is depriving him of some key creative players, which is why Matias was handed a start.

Whether he has a role to play in the future remains to be seen, but I can see Carvalhal returning to what he knows and trusts in the coming weeks.

Chris Gallagher

No, it proves Carvalhal was getting desperate.

Matias has barely featured for Wednesday in the past two seasons and it was a poor move from the manager to pick him.

The winger was bad and hooked at half-time, which says it all. It's hard to envisage Matias having a future at Hillsborough.
