Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been a key figure in Thomas Christiansen's side this season.

His combative, aggressive style of play has been a vital part of the Whites' setup, and without him Leeds struggle to operate.

However, the £1.35m-rated star's style has made him receive eight yellow cards this season, and it begs the question, is this a big problem?

Is Phillips' discipline a worry?

It needs addressing.

Phillips is a player I personally rate but others are not so sure.

One thing most could agree on is that he needs to curb his booking rate, though. I do think it'll improve with age though as he has improved a lot already.

Chris Gallagher

A slight concern, but understandable.

The midfielder is competitive and his style means bookings are inevitable but he is picking up some silly yellow cards.

However, he's still very young so you'd give him the benefit of the doubt at the minute and hope he changes as he matures as a player.

Adam Simeoni

Every team needs a player who will get stuck in, so I don't think many will have a problem with Phillips' discipline record.

The tough-tackling midfielder inspires his teammates with his no-nonsense approach, and his commitment suggests he will become club captain one day.

A few less yellow cards wouldn't go amiss, but Christiansen won't be too bothered by his record.

Alfie Burns

It’s a worry, particularly when you consider the stage of the season we are at.

Of course, the nature of the position Phillips plays means that bookings are a given, but the youngster has picked up far too many at this stage of the season.

Leeds will lose Phillips in the near future for two games due to suspension, which will be a blow, but they should have the depth to cover him.

Phillips is young, and you would hope that this side of his game will mellow in the coming years.
