Birmingham City get back to league action this weekend when they make the trip to The Valley to face in-form Charlton Athletic, with Pep Clotet's side looking to build on their steady start to the season.

One decision faced by Clotet ahead of the match is whether to give a start to 16-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham, who is really starting to emerge as one of the Blues' breakthrough stars of the season.

Bellingham recently won the Syrenka Cup as captain of the England under-17's and will no undoubtedly be looking to get more first-team chances at Birmingham, with him making three appearances so far.

So should Clotet hand a start to Bellingham against Charlton this weekend?

We discuss........

George Brooks

"I don't see why not. Jude Bellingham is a talented footballer and even though he doesn't have a lot of experience at this level, he did well against Stoke off the bench last time out.

"Even though his goal was very fortunate because of the deflection, he still played well.

"Charlton are a good side and they'll be full of confidence coming into this game after are fine start to the season.

"It'll be a tough game for Birmingham, so it'll be interesting to see if Bellingham can handle the pressure if he is handed his first start."

Josh Cole

“Given just how impressive Jude Bellingham has been this season, it may be worth Clotet starting him against Charlton Athletic.

“Despite only being 16 years old, the forward has already illustrated that he is enough talent to compete at Championship level and thus the Blues should put their trust in him.

“Having scored the winner in Birmingham’s most recent outing against Stoke, Bellingham’s confidence will by sky high heading into the clash with the Addicks.

“Therefore, it would not be at all surprising if he ends up creating positive headlines once again on Saturday at The Valley.”

Toby Wilding

"It may not be a bad idea.

"You can't really argue with anything Bellingham has done so far this season, so it may well be a smart idea to give him another chance to impress.

"Having hit the winner last time out against Stoke, Bellingham will surely be brimming with confidence right now, and Clotet could look to take advantage of that right now.

"Indeed, with Charlton unbeaten so far this season, it may be a seemingly unlikely move such as this that finally breaks them down at the start of the campaign."
