Tottenham are looking to conclude a potential deal for Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon before the World Cup in Russia this summer, according to the Times.

The 17-year-old has enjoyed a superb season for the Cottagers and his a fundamental reason behind Fulham's push for promotion to the Premier League.

Do Spurs need to act this fast? Should they do a deal before or after the tournament?

We discuss....

George Dagless

Spurs simply need to act fast.

The Fulham ace is going right to the top, it just remains to be seen with which club.

Personally, though I'm not a fan of either team, I'd like to see him stay at Craven Cottage for a bit longer - especially if they do get promoted.

It's the perfect environment where he is guaranteed game-time and that's crucial at this early stage.

Chris Gallagher

I can't see the teenager going to the World Cup so it shouldn't really matter when they sign him.

Obviously though, the sooner the better for Spurs as you can't imagine they'll be the only major club in for the talented Fulham player.

If Fulham win promotion then I think he would be better served staying at Craven Cottage but a move to Spurs will be tempting.

Jay Williams

I think it's quite simple - if Fulham go up, he stays; if they stay down, he leaves.

Sessegnon is only 17 but he is already a Premier League quality player and the Cottagers can surely not resist bids from the top teams across Europe again this summer if they are in the Championship.

But the perfect learning curve for his career is to make the step up to the Premier League and continue playing for Fulham, where he is in a familiar environment.

Alfie Burns

It’s little surprise that Spurs want to tie up a deal for Sessegnon as soon as possible.

Sessegnon isn’t guaranteed to go to the World Cup, but pressure is growing on Gareth Southgate to select him.

Spurs will be well aware that a place on the plane will lead to more interest in Sessegnon, which is probably their motive behind moving quickly.

It makes sense.

Gary Hutchinson

Before the World Cup, after the World Cup, what difference does it make really?

He's a great talent, he's moving up in the summer and from there, the world is his oyster.

I'm not convinced the timing of the move is all that important, unless he crashes the World Cup squad which is highly unlikely.
