Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce is making a new deal for 27-year-old Liam Palmer a priority with the versatile player’s current deal expiring in the summer, as reported in the print edition of the Sun on Sunday (March 3, Page 61).
Palmer has made 24 appearances so far this season and gives Bruce options, being accomplished as both a full-back or in a central midfield role.
So is a new deal for Palmer, good business for the Owls?
“He’s an exciting talent who needs to kick on soon.
“Getting him on a new deal is a good idea, they don’t want another Sean Clare on their hands.
“Or George Hirst for that matter… they’ve a track record of losing their top kids.”
“He has been one of their most consistent performers this season.
“Palmer has actually improved under Steve Bruce, too.
“What better way to show that than to offer him a new deal – good move.”
“It makes complete sense.
“Palmer has been impressive since Bruce took charge and is fully deserving of a new deal if he is to be offered it.
“It’s good to see the Owls getting their key players tied down to long-term deals.”
