West Brom manager Slaven Bilic will be heading into the international break in buoyant mood, with his side top of the Championship, plus the news that promising young striker Jay Soule has put pen to paper on a new three-year-deal, as confirmed on the club website.
The youngster has been a regular scorer at U18 and Premier League 2 level, and with clubs in Europe reported to be interested, fans will surely be pleased to see a talented young player committing his future to the club.
So is it good business to get Soule signed up to a new deal at the Hawthorns?
“This could turn out to be a shrewd bit of business by West Brom as Soule has illustrated some real signs of promise for the club’s youth sides last season.
“As well as scoring 14 goals in all competitions for the Baggies in several different age categories, the forward also provided his team-mates with four assists.
“Having lost the likes of Louie Barry and Morgan Rogers this summer, the last thing that West Brom would have wanted was to see Soule move on to pastures new.
“Therefore, with the teenager agreeing a new three-year deal at the Hawthorns, the Baggies can now look to integrate into the senior side in the not too distant future.”
“After what has gone on over the summer involving some of West Brom’s youngsters, it makes complete sense and is a very good move.
“The Baggies nearly lost Rekeem Harper as well due to their negligence to sort out a youngsters deal, so it was important to get Soule’s future sorted ahead of the upcoming transfer windows.
“Whether he really makes it in the first-team remains to be seen, but the Baggies needed to secure their asset.
“It’s good to see the club finally doing the right things.”
“I think this could turn out to be a decent piece of business for West Brom in the long run.
“Soule is clearly a really talented player who is thought highly of by those at The Hawthorns.
“Charlie Austin and Hal Robson-Kanu are both getting on a bit now, so if Soule can keep his head down and continue to work hard, then he could well be given a chance sooner rather than later.
“It’s so important that Albion continue to these nurture these young talents, but they have got to secure their futures before it’s too late.”
